Best film I've seen in years, 'The Fall.'

So I just finished watching what I have to say is the best new film I've seen in years. It's called 'The Fall.'

First and foremost what has to be mentioned is how visually stunning this film is. Every frame is a smorgasbord of eye-candy, plain and simple. It's just gorgeous! Within ten seconds of the film's beginning I was hooked, and it didn't let up. I couldn't get over the sets, most of which, I'm sure, were actual locations from all over the world. The color-pallet of the film just jumps off the screen. It was like bathing yourself in a wonderfully magical world of vision. Now the story, and the acting, etc... were all very compelling and enjoyable, but if I haven't emphasized it enough yet, this is a movie you go see as a gift for your eyes. Unfortunately it's only on Netflix another day, so don't miss it!

New Yorker Contest #374

Alright. I want to complain a little. I realize that I'm competing against a bazillion others in this caption contest, so I'm not super surprised that I haven't been a finalist yet, but Jesus...! Over and over I am so disappointed with the finalists they choose. Remember two weeks ago when I came up with half a dozen pretty good captions before I settled on one? (The employees had turnkeys in their backs.) Any one of mine was far better than any of the ones they chose. One finalist even had a major discrepancy from the illustration. (referring to the employee in the singular when a second employee is clearly shown with a turnkey in his back too. That should matter! Now on occasion I read the finalist and realize I simply got beat. (As with contest #370) but far too often I read these finalist and I wonder if they're just pulling them out of a hat! The finalist for #372 are particularly lame.

Another New Yorker Caption Contest

I almost went with, "I suppose you think I've taken our policy on transparency too far." but it was a little long and I'm happier with this one.

Another might have been. "I think we've let Casual Friday get out of hand."

Water Pattern You Have To See To Believe

I have just got to share this video I came across. It's stunning in it's simplicity.

But here's the thing that's been keeping me awake tonight. Instead of only capturing this with a camera, couldn't you instead put this devise in a room with a strobe light (set to the same frequency) and therefore be able to see it live?

Too Many Choices on This Week's New Yorker Contest

This one was too easy. There were the obvious ones like

"These people need to unwind."
or
"Our staff seems run-down."
or
"I see you've got your department all ratcheted up."
or
"Why is everyone so cranky?"

but everyone's going to come up with those, so I went a little more vague. I hope not too much so.

This Week's New Yorker Caption Contest Takes On Gun Control

I'll bet this week generates a buzz. My entry is a little awkward, but I could think of anything else.
