New Yorker Contest #374

Alright. I want to complain a little. I realize that I'm competing against a bazillion others in this caption contest, so I'm not super surprised that I haven't been a finalist yet, but Jesus...! Over and over I am so disappointed with the finalists they choose. Remember two weeks ago when I came up with half a dozen pretty good captions before I settled on one? (The employees had turnkeys in their backs.) Any one of mine was far better than any of the ones they chose. One finalist even had a major discrepancy from the illustration. (referring to the employee in the singular when a second employee is clearly shown with a turnkey in his back too. That should matter! Now on occasion I read the finalist and realize I simply got beat. (As with contest #370) but far too often I read these finalist and I wonder if they're just pulling them out of a hat! The finalist for #372 are particularly lame.
